1% for the Planet is a global movement inspiring businesses to support environmental solutions through annual memberships and everyday actions. Urberg has committed to donate a minimum of 1% of our yearly sales. By donating through the non profit 1% for the Planet we make sure our donations have credible third party certification, legitimizing the commitment by reviewing and confirming sales and donation details annually.
The goal of 1% for the Planet is to significantly increase the overall amount of global dollars going to help protect the planet with the smartest donations possible.
We are actively cooperating with several environmental organizations and you can read more about them in the section below.
Svenska Naturskyddsföreningen is Sweden’s largest environmental organization, focused on nature conservation, environmental protection and eco-care. By supporting and cooperating with the global environmental movement, Svenska Naturskyddsföreningen contributes to greater participation and impact on issues of sustainable development in local and global development processes. Climate, forest, agriculture, environmental toxins, water, sea, and sustainable consumption are their most important areas of work.
WWF mission is to conserve nature and reduce the most pressing threats to the diversity of life on Earth. They collaborate with local communities to conserve the natural resources we all depend on and build a future in which people and nature thrive. Together with partners at all levels, they transform markets and policies toward sustainability, tackle the threats driving the climate crisis, and protect and restore wildlife and their habitats.
Wood is a renewable natural resource – Natural forests are not. The charitable foundation Naturarvet collects funds to aquire and protect old-growth forests in Sweden. Old-growht forests are the worlds best climate crisis mitigators, species protectors and outdoor life arenas. And to restore degraded nature, the first golden rule is to protect the last remaining old-growth forests.
Through 1% for the Planet cooperation with Naturarvet, Urberg by the end of 2023 so far contributed to:
The Norwegian Society for the Conservation of Nature (Naturvernförbundet Norge) is a democratic membership organization, founded in 1914 and is Norway’s oldest environment and nature conservation organization. The Norwegian Society for the Conservation of Nature works with a broad range of issues within environmental and nature conservation, but especially with the areas of nature conservation, climate, energy, and transportation.
GreenKayak is an environmental NGO that engages volunteers in the fight against environmental pollution while kayaking. They offer everyone to jump aboard a GreenKayak and paddle for free under two simple conditions: spend your time on the water collecting waste and share this experience on your social media using #GreenKayak. Since 2017, tens of thousands of people have paddled their stable double-sit-on-top GreenKayaks in the harbors, rivers, and lakes of five European countries, and collected more than 104 tons of trash. Think about how big a plastic bag is and how much it weighs, now imagine the pile of waste collected – it’s a waste-mountain!
The Danish Society for Nature Conservation is Denmark’s largest environment organization. Their cause is deeply rooted in a vibrant member democracy and are the only association in Denmark that can initiate conservation cases and secure Denmark’s nature for the future. But the Danish Society for Nature Conservation is much more than just conservation efforts. They are a community for everyone who wants to act for nature, the environment, and the climate. They provide inspiration and make it easy to go out and make a difference.
Founded in 1992, the purpose of the John Nurminen Foundation is to save the Baltic Sea and its heritage for future generations. The Foundation’s projects improve the status of the Baltic Sea by reducing the nutrient load and environmental problems, such as eutrophication and nature loss, faced by the sea. The Foundation’s tasks also include safeguarding, celebrating and communicating the stories and cultural heritage of the Sea. The work is steered by measurable results and impact. The Foundation’s operations are mainly funded by donations and grants.
Protect Our Winters turns passionate outdoor people into effective climate advocates. POW leads a community of athletes, thought pioneers and forward-thinking business leaders to affect systemic political solutions to climate change. Their policy agenda consists of a four-pronged approach to climate solutions including clean energy, clean transportation, carbon pricing and protecting public lands from fossil fuel extraction. They have chosen to focus on these four areas because of their broad reaching impact to climate, their possibility for success in policy and their ability to be enacted on the individual and collective scale.
